Summer gives ideas to more than one manufacturer. After the “One” range, it is time for “Desire” one to get fresh blood. HTC announces the Desire 500, a smartphone intercalated between the entry and the middle ranges. This terminal has more than correct specifications for a truly affordable price. What is behind this pretty cool device?
Technical Specifications
According to HTC, the Desire 500 enables users to stay connected anywhere, at any time thanks to its news feeds, camera quality, as well as multi-tasking functions.
To do this, it has a powerful CPU. The Snapdragon 200, a Quad-Core little brother of the S800 currently in vogue, which is clocked at 1.2 GHz. The Desire 500 sports 1 GB of RAM and the internal memory is 4GB, but expandable via a microSD slot up to 64 GB.
The WVGA screen displays 4.3 inches and has a resolution of 480×800 pixels for a pixel density of 217 ppi. The Desire 500 also has two cameras, a rear 8-megapixels (28mm and aperture at f/2.0) with a backlit sensor, autofocus and LED flash, and supported by a dedicated HTC image chip, as well as Smart Flash technology which automatically adjusts flash intensity on five power levels depending on the distance to the object; and also a 2-megapixel front camera.
All this is powered by an 1800 mAh battery that promises up to 12 hours of 3G talk time. For more modest dimensions 131.8 x 66.9 x 9.9 mm and 123 grams. There is also the well known HTC Sense interface. The smartphone has a fairly complete connectivity – compatible with 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and DLNA.
As usual in HTC’s smartphones, there is a smile detector and many filters. With HTC Blinkfeed and Video Highlights applications, you can easily create short videos (30 seconds) from photos present in the phone. Finally, the Desire 500 will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and most importantly it will be available in September for € 250!
